Microchipping

SVHS provides this service to pet owners that registers pets nationwide and cannot be lost. The Avid brand Microchip is inserted between the shoulder blades like a vaccination, but is a small, rice-sized chip that can be scanned by veterinary clinics and animal holding facilities all over the U.S.
Microchipping fees:
- $25.00 for one pet
- $20.00 each for multiple pets
What Is A Microchip? A microchip is a tiny electronic capsule that is embedded under the pet's skin. When a pet is found, any agency with a compatible scanner, including many animal care and control agencies, veterinary clinics, and research labs, can quickly identify a code that links the animal to its owner through a nationwide database. The finder calls a database and uses the code to obtain the owner's current address and phone number. This is an invaluable ID should a pet be stolen for research, since laboratories will instantly know the animal is not abandoned but a beloved pet.
