Surrendering A Pet

When releasing a pet to the shelter, there is a $30.00 surrender fee ($10.00 for each additional pet). Once a release form has been signed, the animal is given an initial medical exam by a trained professional, vaccinated, and wormed. The animal is then available for adoption. Please Note: At any given time we have approximately 250-300 animals waiting to be surrendered—this process can take up
to 4-6 months.

Animals brought to the shelter as strays, either by the Sheriff’s Department or citizens,
are held for five working (Monday-Friday) days. This allows the owners a chance to reclaim their pet.

How long an animal stays at the shelter depends on the health and disposition of the animal, to allow them a good chance to find a caring home.
